Carolina Rebellion

Two weekends ago I had the extreme pleasure of attending the Carolina Rebellion in Charlotte, NC with my cousin. I can report that it was a great festival with a ton of great bands, and a few not-so-great bands. We ran into a few problems (our tent did not work, forcing us to sleep in the car, for one) but overall it was pretty awesome. Some surprisingly good bands I was glad to see were Monstro, In This Moment, Halestorm, and Device. The bands I was specifically there to see were Deftones, Limp Bizkit (shut up, I like them), Alice in Chains, Sevendust, Bush, and Soundgarden. I was really excited for this show because I've never seen any of these huge bands before, so the lineup couldn't have been more perfect. Unfortunately, Bush and Soundgarden wound up canceling at the last second due to inclement weather, but we were given a free Sunday ticket to next year's show to make up for it, which is a pretty damn good deal. Also making up for that was the fact that we were able to meet and get CDs signed by Sevendust and Device (David Draiman from Disturbed et al.). We tried to get to the signing for Deftones, but we were too late for that one.
Overall, I'm definitely looking forward to next year, as this festival is quickly replacing the sorely-missed Ozzfest as the thing to go to. If you are in the area for one of these shows (Southeast U.S.) then do your best to go, 'cause it's fucking awesome. Peace!
